Pedro Assis in Oporto has done an amazing job with a CIM grammar and 
write up.  Please take a look at

What's CIM?  I found this:

"Common Information Model (CIM) is a mechanism for modeling managed 
resources and representing those models in the Managed Object Format 
(MOF)."
