[stringtemplate-interest] defineTemplate thrown away by checkRefreshInterval

Howdy.  yikes. yeah, it probably just blasts the template map to  
refresh.  not by design but...

not sure if it's "correct" to do that or not...seems like refresh  
should make it look like disk.
