It's on the list!  1/1 so far. :)  Can't decide whether I want to do a 
really fancy thing or just solve this immediate problem.  For example, 
if I define a GIF like compression for these bitsets it would solve this 
big static thing as well as help some lookahead computations in the 
lexer.  Hmm....I better not bite off more than I can chew between now 
and new years ;)

oops... 1/2. ;)  I hadn't planned on doing that for this release.  Are 
you using a small device?  What string manipulation would you like?  I 
have lots of fun routines hiding in my jGuru portal code. :)

Well, I'm fundamentally opposed to ANT no matter how good it is (people 
have sent me like 3 config files already) because I oppose making Humans 
grok XML.  Please see
