Hi Terence,
I'm using the StringTemplate library for an internal code generation tool.
It works great, but has one issue for me: The StringTemplateGroup opens all
files with standard encoding.
We have a convention to encode all files with utf-8, so I need to supply
this information to the StringTemplateGroup. This issue might also occur
when you work in an international environment.
I'd be happy when you could consider this as requirement in future versions.
Thomas
PS: I'l hack the current version but see little chances to release the
changes.

Howdy folks,
Finally got StringTemplate 2.0 the way I want it mostly. I will giving
a talk on it next week at Microsoft Research. Now I just have to think
of what to say. :)
http://www.stringtemplate.org/
It is much better suited to code generation than the previous version,
but doesn't destroy it's prior abilities at web stuff. Should be a
drop in replacement even with the big enhancements. This is the
version that the ANTLR 3.0 prototype is using to do code gen. Lots of
bug fixes too. :)
