[antlr-interest] "protected" lexer rules

Perhaps what's confusing here is not the word itself, but the syntactic idea of using a keyword in front of a rule to denote a property, while other properties are usually specified within an "options{}" clause.

PS:
 
should you go with some form of "subrule" instead of "protected", there is some potential for confusion with the current use of the word subrule in the ANTLR docs.
