[antlr-interest] Any doc on syntax diagrams?

Sorry for the basic question, but what do the numbers in the circles mean 
when you have "Show: NFA" checked?  State numbers?  Can I use that 
information for anything?  Is it significant if they're negative?

I've got Ter's book and can't find it there, and I've been googling for 
half an hour and have missed it.
